About Do As I’m Doing#
This is an imitation game more than a concert piece. One person sings and acts out a motion, everyone copies, and the “fast or slow, high or low” verse invites the leader to change it up. Songs like this pass hand to hand among children and teachers, so no single author or date can be pinned to it honestly.
The tune is short but not entirely beginner-friendly on a 6-hole ocarina: it uses an F sharp and a C sharp, so you reach for cross-fingerings rather than the plain scale. The range stays within an octave, from D up to high D.
