About the Legend of Zelda game over theme#
This short cue is the game-over sting from the very first Legend of Zelda, the 1986 NES title that started the whole series. Koji Kondo wrote its music, and this little descending phrase is what greeted players each time Link ran out of hearts.
It is brief, only a handful of bars, but it is not the gentlest first pick. The line uses a B flat and a C sharp, so you cross a couple of the trickier six-hole fingerings before it resolves. Short enough to learn in one sitting once those two notes sit under your fingers.
